Raps promised him she'd go to him right away after the whole storm episode. It's hard for me to talk about it without spoilers, so I suggest that you before reading this if you haven't seen it yet. I will still keep everyone informed of the latest princess news and review all the new princess movies and specials. He wanted to believe it, but at the time he was desperate to save his family. While the first season of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power excelled at character growth, these episodes only showed the …. Characters I want to do something a bit different here with the characters. To me, this was the most disappointing part of the episode.
At his home in Old Corona, Varian has Arianna tied up and explains that she is only being used as leverage to have Rapunzel come to her rescue, hoping to use her hair to free his father from the amber, but not caring for the well-being of the kingdom and its people. For as much of a role that Rapunzel had in the accomplishing of the task, they might as well have sent Shorty! Captain: Actually, I don't think I am. I'd still love to see a team up between them that ends with one or both redeeming the other. Not only that but he chose to destroy the flower instead of finding a way to use it and preserve it for his citizens. But that is not all as we get a stinger of a warrior with a sword that can cut through the black rocks. While distracts with a faux present delivery. Every time I see Rapunzel having fun on her future journey, it's only a reminder that Varian has nothing and nobody.
Rapunzel is having a hard time celebrating her birthday as she is still reeling from events in her recent past that have left her rather shaken and well, that understandable as the episode right before this one was The Alchemist Returns, where Varian someone Rapunzel once considered a friend had betrayed her and used her shaken state and guilt to take advantage of her. Over the next six years, she took me on a four season-long journey filled with , , It's no secret I love. We want people to be able to easily filter what they would like to see. How could such a sweet boy devolve into such a stereotypical villain? He wanted to believe it, but at the time he was desperate to save his family. Setting the end of the show, a year after the movie but there is something else that is quite fascinating as each of the three hour-long specials has coincided with a major event in Rapunzel's life.
. I had some minor quibbles like how exactly are Raps and the stones connected? When I heard that was doing a special called , my mermaid heart lit up with joy. I don't see Varian as the bad guy at all, the Royals are really messed up especially the king. Varian is unfinished business that is going to come home to roost at some point. Sure, he went too far in some respects trying to save his father, but it's not like he had any friends with him who were willing to help him or even just there to talk him out of bad ideas. Varian's story, which has been foreshadowed since the previous special, also comes to fruition here, though I hope that this isn't the last we see of him.
Espinosa was right, there was indeed a lot more heartbreaking adventures with this show and I can only imagine that the second season will involve more to come. To piggyback off the last thing in this quote from our last review, I think that what Frederic is doing here shows how much he does not yet understand what his daughter needs and he is doing this to protect himself as Rapunzel is sick and tired of the lies that her father had been feeding her. From his perspective, the world showed no concern for him, and as such, is owed none by him. Varian has crossed this threshold by kidnapping the Queen in an attempt to lure Rapunzel in, and he's well aware of it. Apparently, Varian had a similar idea to put a decoy of himself to make them think they had the element of surprise. The attempt succeeds so they can go confront Varian on their own, and in the worst timing possible, Varian himself shows up at her doorstep with a sickly purple mist and his mutated pet raccoon, and takes out a number of the Royal Guard, rendering the whole escape meaningless.
I'm still rooting for Varian, despite him trying to kill 2 people, because the Royals didn't do much better, leaving one person for dead Varian's dad and putting everyone in danger. Other then that I think everything else said was correct. Still my favorite new character from the series. So what we have seen so far Varian is only in this to save his father and feels like Rapunzel has let him down in this quest. Rapunzel and Frederic As I mentioned at the beginning of this review, this episode is set one year after the events of the movie and we can see that it has taken a year for a bond to develop and it was rather rocky between these two. This is something that we have brought up a few times throughout this retrospective by comparing Frederic and Triton.
Who are they and what do they want with for? Varian, while he was ignoring the warnings of his father, also did so because he felt that no one was doing anything. The last one that comes to mind is Triton and Ariel. This is something that we've talked about throughout all these reviews but in many ways, Rapunzel and Varian are two sides of the same coin. Varian was offered a chance to stop and talk things out multiple times. And I once again, just want to quote my Villains Profile article on Varian.
However, he was warned that if he removed the flower from its resting place, he would be unleashing a terrible darkness that would endanger the kingdom. I would love to see him come bathe in the second season and turn good again, but that seems unlikely to happen at this point. He gets them to open all the presents. On the night Arianna was gravely sick while she was about to give birth to Rapunzel, Frederic was desperately searching for a miracle that would save them both. Some birthday for my favorite princess.
Believe me, I know I've sunk pretty low But whatever I've done you deserved Arianna: Varian. I was even more excited to learn that one of my favorite actresses, of fame, was playing the new mermaid princess, Marisa! Eugene rightfully questions it, saying he doesn't see that written anywhere in Rapunzel's letter. Really, few shows have this kind of resolution and set up. At least that's Rapunzel and Frederic's working theory now. Something about this description and image got me so excited for the series that I got to work right away on making a of Sofia's elegant gown. Cassandra and The Captain of Royal Guards This one is interesting as Cass has been with her dad all her life as he adopted her when she was a little kid and Cass has wanted nothing more to make her dad proud and would never want to disappoint him. Also he rocks the as a stylized villain.
