If you get it, you need to clip the tester cable to a good ground spot on the car a bare metal spot, the head of a screw, a nut or something that is bare metal, no paint and then, with the tester, touch the cable you need to strip it a little bit if this is the case or pin that carries the lead current to the dash lights. Sometimes that dim control gets bad and you need to replace the switch in order to bring them lights back, specially if you mention that the switch backlight works, but with the headlights on it goes off, this also tells you that it ain't a blown fuse. Normally when it does this I can let it sit for a couple of hours and it will start as if nothing was even wrong. The instrument cluster and all the trim remains dark. Driver window switch goes up when you push down and down when you push down have to fiddle with it for it to go up. By brake lights stayed on and the key less remote did not work I could not lock my car and non of the interior and exterior lights worked.
I checked every fuse i could think of that would relate to the interior lighting and everything looks fine there. Can someone confirm what it is? My 12v outlet doesn't work either but I am guessing it's the fuse. They automatically lock, so surely you can make them unlock? Ok today I was driving my 2004 Gli n noticed when I flash my high beams pull them back for temporary lights my interior lights come on.
